What type of training is included in a retreat?
Retreats focus on aerial technique, performance and act creation on the single point dance trapeze which is applicable to any equipment. You are more than welcome to bring your own apparatus should you wish to create a specific piece. We also have aerial silks available at the studio. Our guest teachers also offer private lessons on a variety of apparatuses including aerial silks, static circus trapeze, rope, and aerial hoop or lyra.
How is this different from a strictly technical workshop? Aside from adding to your technical repertory we really give you guidance and insight into your performance presence and tools to become a more riveting and memorable performer.
Where do I stay when I attend a retreat?
Accommodations are included in the price of the retreat. You will stay in the beautiful marsh front vacation home just steps away from the studio! The home includes 4 bedrooms, a full-size kitchen, bikes, kayaks and a hot tub. More Information about our Guest Home can be found on VRBO. There are also sleeping accommodations in the studio, if you prefer to stay there.
This house has a screened-in porch, 57 ft. long, looking out over the marshes and a tidal creek with a view of Sapelo Island in the distance. Adjacent to the porch is a 16X18 ft. deck. Sit in our Hot Springs hot tub at night on that deck under a canopy of brilliant stars, undiminished by civilization’s lights. There are five sets of french doors that open onto the porch on the southeast side. Open the front door and the french doors, and a gentle breeze blows through the whole house. Yet the whole house is quite private. Our house is adjacent, but away from your viewscape. No other neighbors are visible.
Are meals included?
Yes! We feed you two healthy meals a day (lunch and diner) and we always honor all dietary restrictions. Please let us know your dietary needs prior to attending so we can prepare in advance. For non-vegetarians there is fresh local seafood that we can prepare.
